Music for Humans! Serving London Ontario for just about a decade now, where
there's an inexplicable appetite for balding five piece bands without a drum
machine.

What kind of band IS this anyway?Three Penny Piece formed itself into a living, breathing entity in February 1998 as a regular weeknight outing for three guys that didn't involve getting sweaty, killing stuff or attending 'Get-Rich-Quick' seminars. Originally dubbed a 'hyper-celtic Guinness-driven jig machine'(White Oaks BarFly Quarterly, Spring '99), the band gradually drifted towards a repertoire of classic folk songs, jazz standards and obscure national anthems. After surviving the turn of the millenium with only minimal complications -- the operating system for the Bodrahn, written in COBOL in 1966, crashed spectacularly during one of the Watson weddings -- 3PP installed itself on the hallowed stage of the Round Tower Pub, and played there 267 consecutive Thursday evenings. Since then they have carried on the Thursday night tradition at O'Malley's Irish Pub in south London, and then The Oxford Arms on Dundas. The London Irish Folk Club celebrates the many facets of Irish culture and shares them with others in the London area. This is accomplished via workshops, lessons, ceili's, and other cultural events that are available in the community or organized by the members themselves. The members also serve as resource personnel who can teach or serve in their areas of interest or expertise and direct interested parties to "Irish" happenings and resources in the greater London community. The society actively promotes programs including: music, song, dance, and Irish language. As members we invite all to participate, regardless of skill level, in these activities in a friendly, supportive environment. If one finds another aspect of Irish culture to enjoy, sharing it with the membership would be welcomed.
